Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY) warmly welcomed the SEA-Teacher Inbound Students 2025 during a Welcoming Party held at the Multimedia Room, 3rd Floor of Building A, on Friday, February 7, 2025.
The event was graced by the presence of UPY Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P., Vice Rector III, Dr. Septian Aji Permana, M.Pd., and Chairman of the UPY Foundation, Drs. John Sabari, M.Si., all of whom expressed strong support for this international program.
Three students from Mariano Marcos State University, Philippines—Jazriel Blaire G. Badua, Ramil Olivete Umoso, and Monique G. Tagaban—began their journey in Indonesia as part of the 10th Batch of SEA-Teacher Students. They are participating in the SEA-Teacher Project, an international initiative led by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), which provides opportunities for pre-service teachers to gain international teaching experience and engage in cultural exchange.
“We are delighted to host the SEA-Teacher program once again after its last run in 2019,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P., Rector of UPY, in his welcome speech. “This program is not only about sharing educational knowledge, but also about building friendships between nations and creating meaningful experiences that will inspire future educators.”
This year, UPY collaborates with Mutiara Persada School as the partner institution, allowing participants to gain first-hand experience of the Indonesian education system while learning from a different cultural context. With a spirit of unity and mutual learning, the SEA-Teacher students are eager to make a positive contribution to the field of education.
