Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta Represents Indonesia at China-ASEAN International Conference in Chongqing

Chongqing, China — December 14, 2024 – Water Resource and Electric Engineering College in Chongqing, China, successfully hosted the China-ASEAN International Conference aimed at strengthening ties between higher education institutions in China and ASEAN countries. The conference also sought to explore opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and industry engagement.

Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY) had the honor of representing Indonesia at this prestigious event. Dr. Septian Aji Permana, UPY’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships, attended the conference as the official delegate from UPY.

The conference brought together universities from across ASEAN to engage in vibrant discussions on how education, research, and industry can work hand in hand to create meaningful impacts for students. The theme, “Implementing Education, Research, and Industry for Students”, underscored the importance of equipping students with opportunities to grow and prepare for an increasingly global workforce.

A significant milestone of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta and Water Resource and Electric Engineering College, Chongqing. The MoU includes the establishment of a joint certified internship program, offering students the chance to gain hands-on experience in industry settings and develop essential skills for the global job market.

As a follow-up to this collaboration, students from Water Resource and Electric Engineering College are scheduled to participate in an internship program at UPY in February 2025. This initiative is expected to strengthen international cooperation between the two institutions and provide a transformative learning experience for the students involved.

This partnership holds great promise in creating new pathways for students to grow, learn from global industry practices, and expand their international networks. It also marks an important step in fostering stronger ties between China and ASEAN countries, with education acting as a bridge that connects diverse communities and drives mutual progress.
