UPY Strengthens Global Network with Japan Ryutsu Keizai University and Rugby Institutions

Yogyakarta, January 13, 2025 — Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY) proudly marks a new milestone in international cooperation by initiating a partnership with Japan Ryutsu Keizai University, the Japan Rugby Football Union, and the Regional Rugby Association of Yogyakarta (Pengda Rugby DIY). This exploratory collaboration was warmly welcomed by the UPY academic community, including the Rector of UPY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P., the Chair of the UPY Foundation Board, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, the Head of the Sports Science Study Program, faculty members, and students.

This meeting represents a significant step for UPY as part of its continued commitment to advancing education and sports while creating new opportunities for the younger generation in Indonesia. The collaboration not only opens doors for knowledge exchange but also introduces rugby as a promising sport with growing potential in Indonesia.

In his address, Rector Prof. Paiman expressed great enthusiasm and optimism about the initiative. “This is a major step forward for all of us. With the support of international partnerships like this, UPY is confident in its ability to contribute meaningfully to the world of sports, especially rugby, and to develop outstanding athletes who can compete on an international stage,” he stated.

Through this collaboration, UPY aims to make a positive impact on the development of sports in Indonesia while providing students with valuable opportunities to learn and interact with experienced international partners. With a spirit of collaboration and global vision, UPY is ready to move forward and fulfill its mission of shaping a generation capable of achieving excellence both nationally and globally.
