Yogyakarta, September 12, 2025 — In the spirit of strengthening synergy among higher education institutions, the University of PGRI Yogyakarta (UPY) and the State Islamic University (UIN) Abdul Muthalib Sangaji Ambon initiated a discussion to explore potential collaboration in the areas of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: education, research, and community service. The meeting took place at the UPY Rectorate Room at 09.00 a.m. in a warm and hopeful atmosphere.
The event was attended by the Rector of UPY, Prof. Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P., along with the university’s leadership team and several deans from various faculties. Also present was the Chairman of the UPY Foundation, Drs. John Sabari, M.Si., who expressed full support for this collaborative initiative.
From UIN Abdul Muthalib Sangaji Ambon, the Rector, Dr. Abidin Wakano, M.Ag., attended the meeting with his team, including Dr. Hj. St. Jumaeda, M.Pd.I, and Dr. Eko Wahyunanto Prihono. The session began with welcoming remarks from the Rector of UPY, followed by remarks from the Rector of UIN, and continued with an open and constructive discussion on potential areas of collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Paiman, M.P., emphasized that this partnership would not only expand academic networks but also create opportunities to share values, experiences, and inclusive scientific visions.
Dr. Abidin Wakano also expressed his optimism about the partnership between the two universities representing different regions of Indonesia. He noted that this collaboration is expected to serve as a bridge between regions in developing education, research, and community engagement, fostering a spirit of sharing, learning, and growing together.



The discussion flowed warmly and enthusiastically, covering various potential areas of collaboration to be developed in the future — including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and cross-regional community service programs. The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photo session, symbolizing the initial commitment toward a closer partnership between the two universities.
